Even before looking at the tram I immediately felt this is Helsinki because of the building to the left and the building to to right. The mix of ugliness and complete beauty Helsinki is both if you don't mind And I like it.
During the cold war, many movie scenes taking place in Leningrad were actually shot in Helsinki, because the architecture is so similar (and unlike the real Leningrad, we were not behind the "iron curtain".)
What bothers me about this picture is that the tram number 10 seems to be turning to Aleksanterinkatu when it should be continuing straight on Mannerheimintie. What strange alternate reality is this? (Great photo anyway.)
